Philamae M. Sonntag, age 92, of Princeton, passed away on her birthday, Saturday, April 9, 2022 at St Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, WI. Phil was born on April 9, 1930 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Albert A. and Grace M. (Cannova) Panozzo. She graduated from West High School in Rockford, IL and received her Radiology Certification at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as an X-ray Technician. On September 20, 1952, she was united in marriage to Marvin Sonntag in Rockford, IL. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1990 in Green Lake, WI.
Phil was a devoted Catholic and member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake. For over 20 years, she loved volunteering at the Green Lake Food Pantry. She was proud to have traveled the world with her husband until his passing; she then traveled with her close friends and family. She was an entertainer and enjoyed hosting parties. She was a proud member of P.E.O. Chapter DP, Dartford Educational Club and community garden clubs. She enjoyed reading, needlework, playing Bridge with her friends and baking. She is known for her delicious Biscotti cookies.
Phil is survived by her 6 children: Julie (Jeff) Endicott of Green Lake, Lynda (Special Friend, Mark Komen) Cannova of Minneapolis, MN, Jim (Linda) Sonntag of Green Lake, Tom (LaDonna) Sonntag of Waupaca, Mary Sonntag of Brooklyn, NY, and Patty (Tim) Strandell of Princeton; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Joanne (Richard) Nelson of Fort Worth, TX; and niece, Susanne (Dave) Edwards of Fort Worth, TX. She was considered a 2nd mother by some and had many special friends who will miss her. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; great granddaughter, Ellianna Grace Dietzel; nephew, Scott Nelson; and mother-in-law, Eleanore Hasselman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake, WI with Father John Silva officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 9:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will be in the Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake, WI.
