Luetta Lehman Obituary

Luetta E. Lehman, age 94, formerly of Ripon, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, WI. She was born on November 15, 1920 in Plymouth, WI, the daughter of Alfred and Ella (Abraham) Meerstein. She was baptized, confirmed and attended school at St. John's Lutheran in Plymouth. She graduated from Plymouth High School and attended Business School. She formerly worked for Lakeshire-Marty and Borden Company in Plymouth, as a Lab Technician. During World War II she earned the Army-Navy Production Award Emblem "E" Recognition of Meritorious Work performed as an employee of Lakeshire-Marty.

Luetta was united in marriage to Carlton Lehman on June 2, 1948. They celebrated 51 years of marriage when he preceded her in death on January 12, 2000. Luetta moved to Ripon in 1948 where she lived for 54 years and then moved to Baraboo, WI in 2002. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Woman's Guild, and volunteered at the Second Time Around Store and Quilting for Missions. She worked for Adecco in Ripon and Ripon College.


Luetta is survived by her daughter, Diane (Daryl) Luck of North Freedom; grandson, Scott Luck; granddaughter Stephanie (Ryan) Ballweg; great-granddaughter Natalie Ballweg; great-grandson, Bryce Ballweg; brother Alfred Meerstein of Plymouth; sister Donna Gray of Berryville, Arkansas; two sisters-in-law Vivian Meerstein and Agnes Meerstein both of Plymouth; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carlton; two sisters, Beatrice Buelke and Dolores Owens; and three brothers, Victor, Raymond, and Elmer Meerstein.

Funeral services for Luetta will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon, with Rev. Brian Fritsch officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church on Friday from 10:00am until the time of the services. Interment will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Messiah Lutheran Sunday School in Ripon or Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Baraboo.
