Linda Mullen Obituary

Linda Rae Mullen, age 80, of Green Lake, WI, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Prairie Place Assisted Living in Ripon while surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born on December 14, 1944 in Fond du Lac, WI; the daughter of Myron and Gertrude (Peters) Stollfus. Linda graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du lac, Class of 1963. Linda and Sam had their first date on April 25, 1964 watching the movie, Lilies of the Field. They were together from that day on. She was united in marriage to Samuel Thorfin Mullen on December 11, 1965 in Fond du Lac. Linda graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in Madison in 1966. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Methodist Hospital in Madison. After moving to Anchorage, Alaska in 1966 with Sam, she became a register nurse in Alaska and worked at a clinic. They then moved to Adam County, WI in 1967 where she really enjoyed working as a county traveling nurse visiting the elderly. They had 2 children, Joel and Hannah in Friendship, WI. In 1972, the family moved to Yukon Territory, Canada where they built a log cabin by hand in the wilderness. During that time, Linda home-schooled Joel and Hannah. In 1980, they moved to Ripon where she worked at Parkview Nursing Home and then at Silver Creek clinic. In 1983, she decided to work with Sam with his land surveying business until they retired in 2007.

Linda enjoyed gardening, sewing, and she made many quilts. She loved taking special week-long annual trips across the US and Canada with her grandchildren. She inspired her grandchildren’s lives and careers. She really enjoyed being a part time volunteer at the Green Lake Animal Sheter taking care of their cats.  

Linda is survived by her husband, Sam; children: Joel (Carol) Mullen of Berlin, and Hannah (Michael) Lueneburg of Ripon; grandchildren: Karina (Brandon) Nisiewicz of Berlin, Erika (Noah) Borgardt of Mayville, Logan Lueneburg of Sauk City, and Austin (special friend, Asia) Lueneburg of Ripon; great granddaughter, Eloise Nisiewicz; sister, Sylvia Diggs of Texas; brother, Michael (Denise) Stollfus of Sun Prairie; other relatives and many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Carla Hodge.

Linda was diagnosed with a rare brain condition. Per her wishes, her body was donated to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for science research pertaining to her condition. Cremation will follow. A private immediate family gathering will be held.  Interment will be held in Rosendale Cemetery in Rosendale, WI at a later date.
