Joseph J. Kasuboski, age 75 of Ripon, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Aurora Sheboygan Medical Center in Sheboygan, WI from COVID-19. Joe was born in Ripon, WI on January 5, 1946, the son of Leonard and Margaret (Sina) Kasuboski. Joe graduated from Ripon High School as part of the Class of 1964. He was called to serve his country in the US Army in 1967. He was wounded in 1968 during the Vietnam War earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Joe was a proud life member of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the Ripon Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Post 5278.
Joe was raised on a local dairy farm. The work ethic he learned, and immeasurable generosity toward others, drove his lifelong commitment to helping family, friends, and neighbors with numerous projects that needed an extra set of hands or an extensive knowledge of construction. For years, Joe worked for both Modern Pole Builders and Kasuboski Construction, and many structures in and around the Ripon area and the state of Wisconsin were built using his expertise. He also was Custodian at Ripon Middle School, retiring in 1997.
Joe was united in marriage to Barbara Lundahl on September 2, 1972 at Our Saviors United Church of Christ in Ripon. They lived together on a hobby farm just outside of town for more then 45 years. There, he built a barn for Barb and their three daughters who loved horses. The family enjoyed years of horse-related activities, including being active members of the Pickett Horse Club. One of his favorite events was the club’s annual horse pull, which reminded him of working the fields of his childhood farm. Joe’s immense fondness for animals was evidenced by the menagerie which occupied the family’s farm over the years. He loved to drive his tractor and give rides to his grandchildren whom he adored.
He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His hobbies included hunting and camping with his grandchildren; playing cards and cribbage with his son-in-laws, family, friends, and neighbors Rheiny and Betsy Conrad; and taking long bike rides with his brother, Fred.
Joe is survived by his wife, Barb; three daughters: Jennifer (Les) Stroschein, Kristen (Jamison) Sporakowski, and Miranda (Peter) Toutenhoofd; six grandchildren: Sydney and Logan Stroschein, Kailey Sporakowski, and Caden, Hudson, and Grayson Toutenhoofd; siblings: Raymond Kasuboski, Marie (Donald) Tollard, Lucille (Jim) Chappa, Angeline Chappa, Fred (Sally) Kasuboski, Bernice Wagner, Virginia (Jerry) Wrage, Fr. Walter Kasuboski, Teresa Miller, Peter (Laurie) Kasuboski; sisters-in-law: MaryAnn Kasuboski and Joyce Kasuboski; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
