Joseph J. Galica, age 91, of Ripon, WI went to his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 25,
2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Joe was born on December 30, 1931 in Oshkosh,
WI; the son of Joseph and Mary (Olijnik) Galica. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Bragg on
April 11, 1953 in Rhode Island. Joe served his country in the U.S. Navy for over 22 years as an
Aviation Instruction Mechanic. He was a Master competitive pistol shot and was honorably
discharged ranked as Senior Chief PO. Joe retired from Ripon College from maintenance and
locksmith.
Joe was proud he traveled to all 50 states and 3 countries. He was a devoted member of St.
Catherine of Siena Catholic church, Knights of Columbus, Eagles Club, Fleet Reserve Association,
and Nepeuskun Horse Thief Association. He was the oldest member of the Ripon Rifle and Pistol
Club, and a life-member of the NRA, and VFW. He enjoyed raising animals on the farm, fishing,
and hunting.
Joe is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 6 children: Denise (Dale) Evans of Ohio, Karan (Bob) Doro of
Princeton, Catherine (Michael) Scott of East Lancing, MI, Debora (Mitchell) Sears of Ripon, Linda
Galica of Ripon, and Joseph Jr. (Stephanie) Galica of Ripon; 15 grandchildren; many great
grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear
friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters: Josephine Galica, Elizabeth King, and
Francis Galica; and 3 brothers who all served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and all returned:
John, Leo, and Anton Galica.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00AM to 12:00PM on Friday, December 1,
2023 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00PM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic church on Friday,
December 1, 2023 with Father Jim Leary OFM Cap officiating. Burial will be held in Loper Cemetery in the
Town of Ripon with Full Military Honors following. Divine Passage Funeral Home in Ripon is
