James W. Chase, age 84, of Ripon, WI went to his heavenly home on Monday, September 1, 2025 at SSM Health Ripon Medical Center in Ripon with his family by his side. Jim was born on July 9, 1941 in Oshkosh, WI; the son of Myron and Jane (Helm) Chase. After high school, Jim served his country and enlisted in the United States Marines. He served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. Jim retired as First Sergeant in the U.S. Marines after 20 years, and then served in the Fleet Reserve for 10 years. He worked for the Dept of Corrections for many years before officially retiring. He was united in marriage to his loving wife, Daisy Manthei on September 5, 2000 in Fond du Lac, WI.
Jim loved being a Marine. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, FRA, and Vietnam Veterans of America. He was honored to be a part of the Old Glory Honor Flight on July 29, 2022, flight number 58 for Vietnam veterans. He enjoyed helping his brother-in-law on the farm when he was younger, traveling, and visiting his daughters and grandchildren. He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Milwaukee Brewers.
Jim is survived by his wife, Daisy; 3 daughters: Julie Park of Kaneohe, HI, Janice Lum of Waianae, HI, and Jaycee (Larry) Myers of Waianae, HI; 7 grandchildren: James (Carrie) Mendes, Marissa (Alex) Lemamea-Ota, Radiant (John) Perkins, Jennifer (Sterling) Thompson, Nicholas (Wailani) Yuson, Jaymi Yuson, and Mike Yuson; 10 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; siblings: Carol Reiter of Omro, Sharon (Brad) David of Oshkosh, Michael (Kathy) Chase of Green Bay, Susan (Charles) Doemel of Oshkosh, Kathy (Joseph) Hughes of Oshkosh, and Connie (Jim) Doemel of Marinette; brothers in law, Gerald Glatz of Oshkosh, and Jim Salm of Neenah; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; baby brother, Myron; brothers: Melvin and Richard Chase; sisters, Mary Glatz, and Bonnie Salm; son-in-law, Derek Park; brothers-in-law: Robert Reiter, Randy Manthei and Thomas Manthei; and granddaughter, Jessica Lum.
A Private Military Graveside Service for Jim will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI. Divine Passage Funeral Home in Ripon is proudly serving the Chase family. Divinepassagefunerals.com
