George Kirby Jr. Obituary

George T. Kirby Jr, age 91, of Oshkosh, WI, formerly of Kingston, NJ, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Bella Vista in Oshkosh, WI with family by his side. George was born on March 3, 1932 in Princeton, NJ; the son of George Sr. and Margaret (Costello) Kirby. He graduated from Princeton High School in New Jersey, Class of 1950. He then attended and graduated from Princeton University, Class of 1954 with a degree in Engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from November 1955- August 1957 and was Honorably Discharged.

George was a member of the Princeton Club of Southwest Florida, Princeton Terrace Club, American Society of Civil Engineers (A.S.C.E.) and most recently, the Willis-Chapel American Legion Post 306 in Green Lake. In his younger years, he played Softball and coached Football and Baseball while his kids were growing up. He enjoyed being the Chair for his Alma mater’s reunion housing and loved playing bridge and poker. In retirement, he enjoyed winters in Naples, FL. He loved his grandchildren and was very supportive of their educational goals.

George is survived by his son, Michael Kirby of Oshkosh; daughter, Karen (Randal) McQuown of Green Lake; 5 grandchildren: Matthew Kirby, Nathaniel Kirby, Misty McQuown, Marleigh McQuown, and Levon McQuown; 3 great grandchildren: Katannah Dadas, Kadence Quimby, and Layla Toddish; other relatives and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Margaret; his previous wife, Josephine “Jody” Kirby; and brother, James “Jim” Kirby.

The wishes of George are to be cremated with Interment to be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date with full Military Honors. Divine Passage Funeral Home is serving the family during this difficult time. Divinepassagefunerals.com
