Gene Reisen Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Gene Reisen, age 63, on March 24th, 2025, a beloved father, grandfather, friend, and dedicated member of the Ripon community. Gene was born on March 30th, 1961, in Platteville, WI; the son of Donald Reisen and Mary (Richter) Gibbs.

A proud graduate of Lincoln College of Technology in Indianapolis, IN, Class of 1981, he was a skilled Diesel Technician whose hands touched countless lives through his work and dedication to the city he treasured. His talent and determination were evident in everything he did, whether on the job or in the quiet moments at home.  After nearly 40 years of service with the City of Ripon, Gene retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, pride, and commitment.

Gene had a true love for life. His passion for tinkering, building, and working on his hobby farm brought him endless joy. He found solace and excitement in fishing, going to antique engine shows, and reading his treasured steam engine magazines. During warm months he could be seen grinning from ear to ear while riding his tractors through the fields of his beloved home. His love for building, restoring, and caring for old engines reflected his attention to detail and a deep respect for craftsmanship.

Beyond his many talents, Gene was known for his generous spirit. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.  Most of all, Gene was known for his infectious laugh and bright smile, which could light up any room. His humor and creative spirit touched all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he shared with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughters: Nicole (Alex) Kar (nee Reisen) of Wauwatosa, and SkyAnn Reisen of Appleton; grandchildren: Weston and Wren Kar; brothers: Mark Reisen, Joe Reisen, Greg (Vicki) Reisen, and Kurt (Eilleen) Reisen; other relatives and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Per the wishes of Gene, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life for him will be held at a later date.  Divine Passage Funeral Home in Ripon is assisting the family. Divinepassagefunerals.com
