Earl D. Splittgaber Jr., age 83, of Ripon, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 with his family by his side. Earl was born in Ripon on July 16, 1933, the son of Earl Sr. and Merle (Quinn) Splittgaber. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, Airman 1st Class from 1952-1957, stationed in Texas, Washington, Wyoming and Japan. He was a life-long member of the Ripon VFW Post 5278.
Earl was united in marriage to Sandra Lee Kallin on June 26, 1959 at the Methodist Church in Ripon. They have celebrated 57 years of marriage. He drove a milk truck early in life. He then worked in maintenance and engine building at Mercury Marine, Racing Division in Oshkosh until he retired at the age of 55. Earl had interest in cars; he collected models, and enjoyed attending car shows. He also enjoyed watching old western movies and going to the casino.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; two sons: Todd (Barbara) Splittgaber and Michael (Sara) Splittgaber, both of Ripon; one daughter, Tamala Splittgaber of Pottstown, PA; two sisters: Janet (Glen) Creapo of Colorado Springs, CO; and Lois (Daniel) Meilahn of Ripon; two brothers: James Splittgaber of Princeton; and Dale (Joann) Splittgaber of Oshkosh; 8 grandchildren: Adam, Cody and Kallin Splittgaber, Nick (Katie) Niemuth, Lisa Henning, Kelsey, Katie, and Kory Splittgaber; and 4 great grandchildren: Kollin and Korbin Niemuth, Aidyn and Ahliya Henning. He is preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank the care givers, nurses, Hospice, and Travis Bender for their help and allowing Earl to remain in his home.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 4-7pm at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. A Memorial Service will follow at 7pm with Pastor Michael Morning officiating.
