Donald Becker Obituary

Donald Eric Becker of Eldorado, and a current resident of Tower View Assisted Living of Rosendale, was called to his heavenly home just 21 days before his 96th birthday while surrounded by his family.

He was born in the town of Seneca on July 2, 1928, to Erich and Louise (Krause) Becker. Don was the oldest son and had 8 siblings. They were raised on a farm west of Berlin. He attended Rabbit School through 8th grade.

Don was baptized on July 22, 1928, and confirmed in faith on April 18, 1943, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, also known as “the German church” in the town of Fairburn. On December 2, 1950, Don married Dolores Ottman, of Berlin, and together they had shared their lives “Until death do us part.” Don was a dedicated member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Eldorado, serving on the council and was treasurer for many years. Don lived a dedicated, Christ-centered life and now he rests in his eternal home that was prepared for him.

Prior to moving to Eldorado, the Becker’s and their 8 children lived in Sheboygan Falls where Don worked at the Kohler Company. In 1967, the family moved to Eldorado after purchasing a partnership of B&B Distributorship with the Borden Company. Later, he worked at Speed Queen until July of 1992, continuing his working résumé with 33 years of service at the family business, Eldorado Trailer Sales, often referred to as “the old guy.”

In 2003, Don and Dolores were honored as Parade Marshals in tribute to their dedication as upstanding members of the Eldorado community. Don enjoyed gardening, polka music, reading the paper, and playing his accordion. He was also known for his huge sweet tooth! Don had a love for animals, especially his best dog-friend “Lucy Lou,” and took in many stray cats throughout the years.

It was easy knowing if he was home or not, just by looking through the window to see if he was sitting in his recliner with his white socks on. In his younger years, he was known as “Josh” and kept his quick-wit sense of humor until his last days, often cracking one-liners to the staff members at TVAL.

Survivors include his children: Kathy (Jim) Towne, Eldorado; Glenn (Joyce) Becker, Rosendale; Marcie (Terry) Waterworth, Eldorado; Nancy (John) Ryan, Mesa, Arizona; Charlie (Sarah) Becker, Eldorado; Mark (Jennie) Becker, West Bend; Dawn (Tom) McBride, Waterloo; and daughter-in-law, Diane Becker, Van Dyne, his sister Caroline Brzezinski, Fond du Lac, his brother, Norman (Julie) Becker, Berlin, in-laws Raymond (Shirley) Ottman, Sheboygan Falls, Nancy Seaman, Almond, Donna (Robert) Petit, Berlin, Ronald Naparalla, Fremont, Elvera Ottman, Sheboygan Falls, and many nieces and nephews.

He was respected not only by his children, but also by his 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren: John (Deb) Waterworth, Tina Waterworth, Austin; Jon Wendt, Tyler, Megan, Ryan; Terra (Brian) Kind, Mason, Cole, Kaylea; Cory (Brenda) Towne, Alyssa, Mitchell; Mike (Sheri) Becker, Carson; Katie (Nathan) VandeSlunt, Tate; Sheila (Scott) Stettbacher, Lauren, Drew; Abby (Joe) Kopf, Malayna, Kinsey, Anya; Renee (Eric) Van Nocker, Piper, Gracie; Greg Becker, Layla, Elllie; Faren (Paul) Schmuhl, Brycen, Landyn, Ashtyn; Halie Becker; Brian Becker; Elyse (Chris) Badtke, Boyce; Hannah (Steven) Kelly; Cherie Becker; Collin McBride and Chanel (Brandon) Gillian.
